There is a significant amount of Afghan youth and children that are refugees arriving soon that need immediate housing by Afghan community members. This is an extremely dire need and the youth can face danger in foster homes and group homes if they are placed by child protective services. These are supposed to be safe environments but often times they are not. In the U.S. 80% of sex trafficking victims are foster youth. Please do not allow Afghan refugees to become a part of this statistic. In the U.S. a foster family will receive approximately $1,000 per month per child from the government to assist with the needs and expenses of a foster youth until age 18. There are additional programs available that will provide the youth with laptops, cell phones and other support/resources. With the influx of incoming refugees around the world, they may need temporary housing for a few weeks up to a year. We are seeking kind people that are willing to open their home to house individuals and families. We'll do our best to match refugees to your allowable accommodations. Please discuss this need with your family, extended family and friends. This is where the Afghan community really needs to step up and sign up.
